SharePoint 2016 in the year 2017 is going to be like this:

2017 would definitely be continuation to what we saw in 2016. There is lot more to do with team sites and collaboration. There is a whole new levels of what we are doing with news services for team news, corporate news and bringing that in different way where you get a personalized experience for that news.

Just the article themselves, if you have a look at publish pages, Microsoft is doing a lot of work to make it so that- instead of single column, it will be moved to support double column, things that people would just expect-there is sort of nailing the basics (has been done) moving onto what people are asking for expecting for. Microsoft is working towards surprising its customers. For 2017 Microsoft is doing same publishing as it has done for collaboration. So when you go to create site you will get publishing site so Microsoft has started to talk about what it will look like- SharePoint 2017 and what it needs to be.

Microsoft is working with partners to make sure that it gets a breath of some simple sites, something that is little bit more departmental, all the way upto of course what partner support something broader company wide. But a lot of it really equate been have bigger focus on one to many type broadcast of information. Creation of these pages will be easy-Mobile first. Using the same tactic that we have for the team site, create a page- you will do that for these publishing sites but the bigger focus would be on design; how does it look, can I communicate a lot more easily with visuals.

So publishing would be a big focus. There would be lots of focus on content management. They are working with meta data and doubling down on that; how can document libraries document center become more robust, certainly nudging into and around the knowledge management. If we see to it, we would notice that there is a lot of content that needs to be managed across the company and you can do that today but in a real structured format and had it been real visible; how you can use the content, what audience is ready for it how to tag things appropriately. So there are a lot of things that Microsoft is looking in terms of support and in a modern way.

Microsoft is collecting and providing insights to a lot of analytics. My analytics is about personal views- tell me about my day and what can I do better which is kind of fitbit for the enterprise. Therefore, Microsoft tries to know how active companies manage their content so that people can get value out of that. For example: With OneDrive you send out a file for review and may be 50 people have or have not reviewed the file, so how you can see that in the analytics. If you take the ground work that Microsoft did in 2016, now they are trying to bubble that up to a site owner or something more tenant wide. It's like tenant admin, somebody who wants to see how my business is doing primarily, internally. But Microsoft has lots of analytics for sites, files, people and of course with the graph, you will get to see a spin on that.

Microsoft is not just looking to provide what they provide but they also want to enable when people are collecting the analytics and providing third party tools, they will give you some really deep and rich analytics too.
